We are a nonprofit organisation focused on helping make life better for the stray animals on the streets of our town and the countryside around us in Morocco by giving refuge , food and medicine where needed.
Dar Hamoosh is named after my first rescue kitten from the streets of Essaouira in the photo above. He was tiny with gummed shut eyes but still trying to play with his tail and like the others I have rescued I could not walk away, he deserved a better life. Hamoosh is now a handsome ginger boss cat who is gentle and caring of all new additions to the family .His name was Hamish but the locals thought I was saying Ha Moosh ‘the cat’ in Berber so Hamoosh it became. Many others have since joined him and so now I need help with caring for them and more on the streets and around the countryside here in southern Morocco. Dar Hamoosh is a large plot of land with Olive and Argan trees in the countryside where the animals can be safe and cared for . I plan some accommodations soon for them but for now they share the renovated cottage with me until I can complete the project. All who know me well know I am not new to animal rescue which started a long time ago in Saudi Arabia and included gazelle, baboon and camels.
