Refuge Dar Hamoosh is a safe haven for the cats of Morocco. Our founder Kritzlynn works tirelessly caring for sick and injured animals that find their way to our small corner of Essaouira Morocco.

With winter quickly approaching, proper dry shelter is needed for many of the animals. A main gate is needed to keep the local pack of stray dogs out.

FAQs
Dar Hamoosh is a privately run Refuge for mostly cats, but has been known to take in the rare hedgehog, puppy, peacock and even a few chickens. In fact any animal in distress is welcome.
Kritzlynn works with local Essaouira and Spanish vets to provide care for all the animals.
Where does my money go?
Directly for care of any animal at the refuge, no CPA's or Corporations benefit from your donations.
What animals are taken into the refuge?
Currently space is at capacity. Mostly cats are residents of the refuge. But also a few chickens, a puppy, hedgehogs and the latest visitors are a group of recently hatched tortoises!
Who cares for the animal?
Daily care falls on main resident Kritzlynn. Though neighbors in the area have stopped by to assist in care and tracking down wayward strays.
Volunteers are always welcome, though at this time you need to provide your own accommodation's. Guest quarters are not up and running yet at the refuge.
What is needed?
As of fall 2018, roofing, main gate and out building repairs are a main concern with a damp cold Moroccan winter approaching fast. Dry safe and secure structures are of utmost concern at the moment.
Secondly and always needed are general supplies. Cat food wet & dry, litter, Vet bills paid, general medications of deworming, flee medications, vaccines - can be obtained at the local Essaouira veterinary clinic.
The extras - cleaning supplies, tools, towels and of course toys.
